It’s the Finest Historic Experience in Southwest Florida!

Step back in time to the year 1918 and learn about life in Fort Myers as it was more than a century ago. Built in 1901, this Georgian Revival style mansion was the scene of many high society parties of Fort Myers’ elite residents. The Burroughs Home & Gardens, located in the vibrant River District of downtown Fort Myers, is the only home of its time still standing in its original location and open to the public. Learn about the Burroughs family, as well as the array of famous Americans, from Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Harvey Firestone, and Dr. Alexis Carrel to aviator Charles Lindbergh who often visited the home. The Burroughs Home & Gardens has remained authentic to the early 1900’s with many of the original furnishings and pictures from the family, making this a “must see” for anyone who visits or lives in Southwest Florida. Walk among live oaks and lush gardens or relax in a rocking chair on the stately verandah as you watch the meandering river gently roll by … but, first join Mona and Jettie Burroughs, the privileged daughters of wealthy businessman Nelson Burroughs and his wife, Adeline, for a tour as they share their history and delightful tales of growing up in one of Fort Myers’ largest, most stately mansions.
