June 19, 2012 - Bennett's features coffees from around the world

Fort Myers, Fl (June 19, 2012) - Bennett’s Fresh Roast in downtown Fort Myers will be featuring a collection of unique coffees from around the world.

Beginning on Monday, June 25, Bennett’s will be serving a different international coffee each day that week while supplies last. The coffees will be fresh roasted the day before it is served and available brewed by the cup at Bennett’s regular prices.

“Summer is the perfect time for us to be able to bring these unique blends into our shop,” said Bennett’s owner Bob Grissinger. “All of these exotic flavors are a bit pricey and more than our normal cups would sell for, but we will be offering them at our regular prices. We encourage our patrons and coffee enthusiasts to try a different flavor each day.”

The coffees Bennett’s will be featuring include Bolivia FTO Cenaproc Cooperative, a small, fair trade cooperative in Bolivia; Indonesia Flores Wet Hull Bajawa, a wet hulled Indonesian with reduced acidity and bigger body; Kenya Nyeri AA Tegu, an expensive and very fruity coffee from Kenya; a natural process Ethiopia Pulp Natural Process Limu and Hawaii Kona Kowali Farm Typica, an incredibly bright and clean Hawaiian Kona grown at lower elevations.

Grissinger said he chose these particular coffees for their unusual types.

“These are different coffees with very specific roasting requirements and we'll skillfully roast at medium to dark levels to bring out the exceptional flavors of each of these incredible beans,” he said.

Located off West First Street at 2011 Bayside Parkway, Bennett’s is housed in a bright and colorful 2,000-square-foot shop inside a lovingly restored 1943 former home.

In addition to fresh roasted coffee and hand cut from scratch donuts, Bennett’s also offers unique wines, unusual beers and fresh desserts from Bennett’s own recipe book including praline bread pudding, lemon bars and pies, giving area residents an alternative for afternoon snacks.

Lunch offerings including paninis, soups, sandwiches and four salads available Monday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Bennett’s is open Monday through Sunday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bennett’s also features packaged whole bean or ground coffees, breakfast muffins, strata, oatmeal and sandwiches, a large variety of retail ware and Bodum glassware. Tea lovers can choose from a large variety of Harney & Sons Fine Teas.

Additional information:

Bolivia FTO Cenaproc Cooperative:  The cup has almond roast notes, pear, tamarind, balance and sweet, syrupy mouthfeel. Malty notes in the lighter roasts with Dutch cocoa as well, very approachable.  We don't often get to offer small plantaion Fair Trade Coffee to our customers.

Indonesia Organic Flores Wet Hull Bajawa:  The cup has intense body, a thick and weighty feel on the palate. Foresty and earthy tones, fruity sweetness of melon and mango, sweet tobacco character, and a humid mossy undertone in the aftertaste. This hefty character has its merits among fans wet-hulled Sulawesi coffees that are scarce this year.  The wet-hulling process reduces acidity and increases body.

Kenya Nyeri AA Tegu:  The cup has a fruited character: currant, bright cherries with a hard-candy sweetness in the finish.  Very pricey

Ethiopia Pulp Natural Process Limu:  A very unique cup that has features of both a wet- and dry-process coffee, brighter than most naturals, but certainly has the fruited notes and body of that process method. Layers of peaches, mango and apricot, herbal notes (coriander, and lemongrass), and thick, opaque mouthfeel.

Hawaii Kona Kowali Farm Typica:  The body is light and silky with brightness that is lacking in so many low-grown Hawaiian coffees, and a floral accent to the cup. A refined, elegant sweetness prevails, vanilla-laced honey that lasts through the crystal clear flavors in the finish.
