May 17, 2012 - A Tribute to America's Heroes
Fort Myers, Fl (May 17, 2012) - Join the Fort Myers Recreation Division, the Lee County Chapter of the American Red Cross and American Legion Post 38 on Sunday, May 27th at Centennial Park beginning at 11:00 am for “A Tribute to America’s Heroes”.
Hosted by NBC2 Meteorologist and Navy veteran, Robert Van Winkle; the 2nd Annual Tribute will feature a performances by noted Gospel recording artist Gayla James, Lee County "Young Artist of the Year" Sam Bostic, Ancelyn Willis, inspirational recording artist “Dallas” and FMPD Officer Yvetta Dominque.
Lee County Sheriff’s Office will provide a Rifle Salute and Fly Over, the Fort Myers Police Department will present the Colors, and a Coast Guard will be laying a wreath on the Caloosahatchee River.
The American Red Cross will be accepting items for “Care Packages” for deployed troops such as; Individually wrapped pieces of hard candy (Twizzlers, Tootsie Rolls and Tootsie Roll Pops; Bubble Gum; Skittles; lollipops; Life Savers); Microwave popcorn; Peanuts, pretzels and other snack foods; Travel size Wet wipes; Sunscreen; Lip balm; Foot powder; Kool-Aid and other drink mixes; Toiletry items such as shaving cream, razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and shower soap/gel; Playing cards; Puzzle books.
Concessions will be available. Bring a blanket or lawn chair for seating
